Melting Point Music Video
Surprise! Our first music video!
I'm so excited to share this video with you! I spent weeks melting popsicles in my room, trying various techniques of capturing that satisfying MELT. Once I had enough melty footage, I edited them together with an intimate practice video of us performing the song at our rehearsal studio: Music City SF. It was incredibly hot during filming (this was during a record-breaking heat wave, mind you!) and this caused us to sweat profusely. We thought it was incredibly fitting for Melting Point!

I wrote the lyrics to Melting Point while on a terribly-long commute between where I lived in SF and worked in South Bay. This commute, timed terribly with the short days of March, caused me to leave for work before sunrise, and get home after dark. The seasonal depression, bad ergonomics, and stress of Silicon Valley were eating away at my core. To help cope, I wrote down what I wanted to hear. So when the song addresses you, I'm really giving myself a pep talk.
You woke up in your home carved in stone
And you wonder when and how you will
Leave this place behind
Don’t dream it up, you need to try
So why don’t you
Grow up grab a torch and light your way
You could be trapped in here for days
Weeks months lifetimes away
Weak minds are here to stay
Ignore the maps along the floor
None are the same and there’s always more
Will you escape this lifeless chore
Or will you settle for this
I swear I wore your shoes. Stupid and confused.
If only I had known I could do it on my own
So why don’t you
Grow up grab a torch and light your way
You could be trapped in here for days
Weeks months lifetimes away
Yeah weak minds are here to stay
Ignore the maps along the floor
None are the same and there’s always more
Will you escape this lifeless chore
Or will you settle for this
Run toward a better tomorrow
Unite with your younger self
Never look back with nostalgia
Never forget your melting point
Before performing this song live, I was really worried it would have a lack-luster reaction. But to the band's surprise, the crowd erupted in applause and asked us to play it again at the end of our set! I’ll never forget this moment because it shows that artists can get fatigued from writing, recording, and practicing a song over and over to the point where they lose sight of the magic they captured in the songwriting process. It was really nice to be reminded that we wrote something special and relatable.

Hope you enjoyed the music video. I can't wait to make the next one! 😈👍
